RSV Vaccine Availability

Updated: March 18, 2026

Respiratory Syncytial Virus (RSV) is a common respiratory infection that can be more serious in older adults, particularly those with underlying health conditions.

In Ontario, the RSV vaccine is now available for:

• Adults aged 75 and older

• Adults aged 60–74 who have certain chronic health conditions or risk factors

If you fall into one of these groups, or are unsure whether you qualify, it may be helpful to have a discussion with your physician.

Even for those who may not be eligible for public coverage, the vaccine may still be available privately.

If you would like to review whether the RSV vaccine is appropriate for you, please contact the clinic to arrange an appointment.

HPV Vaccine – Catch-Up Opportunity

Updated: March 18, 2026

We have been reaching out to patients who may not have received the HPV vaccine earlier in life.

Many people between their mid-20s and 40s may have missed the school-based vaccination program, or are unsure whether they completed the series.

The HPV vaccine helps protect against several types of cancer, including cancers that are often difficult to detect early.

There is no strict upper age limit for benefit. Even if you are older, it may still be worthwhile to consider.

If you are unsure whether you received the vaccine, you can check your records or speak with your physician. The vaccine is typically given as a series of doses over several months.

If you would like to review whether this is appropriate for you, please contact the clinic to arrange a discussion.

What Is the Sunflower Lanyard?

Updated: March 18, 2026

You may notice some people wearing a green lanyard with bright yellow sunflowers.

The sunflower lanyard is a simple way of indicating that a person may be living with a hidden disability or may benefit from a little more patience, understanding, or support.

It is not a medical label. It is simply a quiet cue for compassion.

After-Hours Clinic Availability

Updated: March 18, 2026

Ajax Harwood Clinic offers after-hours appointments for patients registered with our practice.

Evening clinics are available Monday through Thursday from 5:00 pm to 7:30 pm, and Saturdays from 9:00 am to 11:30 am.

These clinics are intended to provide timely care while maintaining continuity within your primary care team.

If you need an appointment outside regular hours, please contact the clinic to arrange a time.

Continuity of Care

Updated: March 18, 2026

For patients registered with Ajax Harwood Clinic, ongoing care is most effective when it remains within your primary care team.

When care is provided across multiple settings, important details can be missed, and continuity may be affected.

Whenever possible, we encourage patients to contact the clinic first for new concerns, including those that arise after hours.

This allows us to provide more consistent, coordinated, and informed care over time.
